I would suggest writing Bean himself and asking if he has any he'd like to sell and if so, asking for a price. If you include a self addressed stamped envelope you may get a response. I recall Novaspace selling some in the past so he apparently he has nothing against selling them. Worth a shot at least. |

I hope I am not breaking any rules by giving you an advance heads-up, but I believe there is a Bean brush in RR Auction's upcoming space auction. |

I recently had excellent luck contacting Captain Bean via the mail, at the address found here at cS, regarding a project I was working on and wanting to obtain his signature but I needed some clarification before my piece was sent. His communication via the mail was very quick. I sent two inquiries out on a Monday and received an answer back the following Wednesday in both instances. The best I could make of it was he may receive requests during the week and they get signed over the weekend and sent out Monday.First, I simply wrote a small note with my question. I included a simple self addressed post card where he could check yes or no to my request and asked how to proceed. He simply returned the card with a short sentence about what he required. He was very gracious in his time and effort. I would simply do the same asking if he currently would be interested in selling a singed brush (yes or no) and if so, what he would like you to pay for it and how to complete the purchase. Unless he is traveling I think you would know is short order if it is possible to buy a brush. |

I believe Astronaut Central may still have some of his signed brushes. |

I was just on their site and under Alan Bean brushes I see a framed version in shadow box with patch, plaque and photo for $475.00. |

I think you are misunderstanding the site: the $475 is the price for framing the brush if the brushes are available. But as it shows, their selection is sold out.Still, it might be a good idea to reach out Astronaut Central to verify their inventory. |

I plan on getting an autograph from Alan Bean at the ASF show in a couple weeks. If I remember, I could try and ask him if he ever sells them and if so, what's the best way to get one. |

Coincidentally, the RR Auction preview (which debuted today) lists 2 Alan Bean paint brushes. Lot #414. |

I own one of his brushes and love it. No one can prove (without taking it and having it evaluated of course) that it doesn't have a spec of moon dust clinging to one of the brush hairs. |
