For sale, a three-inch long segment of film from Liberty Bell 7's pilot observation camera, which was mounted in the main control panel to capture all of the actions and movements of Gus Grissom during his July 21, 1961 flight. After 38 years at the bottom of the ocean, corrosion dissolved the camera and left the film exposed. As such the content recorded by the film was lost. The Kansas Cosmosphere previously sold segments of this film embedded in lucite. This piece, in addition to being loose, is an inch longer than those in acrylic. The segment is mounted to an 8x10 photo display but in such a way that it is easily removable without damage (if so desired). Also included is a Cosmosphere certificate of authenticity. Update: Now sold. | |
