I got a heck of a deal on a 11x14 Apollo 10 crew signed unpersonalized launch photo that I'm looking to resell to help fund my annual trip to the ASF show. It looks like a fisheye lens view of the launch. It's signed in black sharpie by Tom Stafford, Gene Cernan and John Young. This photo was part of RR Auctions recent space auction in a lot with three other crew signed photos and envelope. I think it sold for about $3400. I think it's part of a vintage photo set put out around the time after the mission. Very nice and rare over-sized crew signed photo. Email me for photos — $800 shipped in U.S.

I also got the envelope that says Apollo 10 11x14 photo set on it and is signed by Tom Stafford and Gene Cernan — $75 shipped in U.S.

I wanted to buy a similar one on eBay recently but missed it. Looks really nice.

It would seem it is not a similar one, it is the same one. Purchased just a week ago on eBay. Thank you for posting the link to the eBay auction.

Really? What a coincidence. I was following that auction because a lunar photo (or related) signed by John Young is in my list to purchase someday. I can't currently afford his "jump" photo but I am looking for nice alternatives.

Hence why I posted on here that I got a great deal on it and was reselling it.

Jason, I totally agree that comments about any profit gained in this or any hobby will start drama. If the item offered is priced at a fair market value it will sell. If it's overpriced or currently not in demand it won't sell. Good luck with the item you have offered.

Let's avoid both the drama of another 'debate' on buying-reselling as well as a thread which could start to drag in some personal attacks...

As a neutral party, the initial post could be construed as misleading compared with the eBay information (i.e. "I think it sold for $3400") and I would suggest we (all) learn from this when posting items for sale.

I still prefer to buy things from other cS'ers, and hope this forum stays healthy and active. If an item is offered at fair market value it will sell...

I honestly thought my original post was pretty clear in its description of it selling in a lot in RR Auction's last space auction. I can't imagine any sort of confusion in what I said.

I think you're exactly right, Dave.

While the signatures on this piece are undeniably authentic and it is a neat photograph, my eye keeps getting drawn to the fact that John Young signed over the top of the Saturn V...which is the main focal point of the photo. It wouldn't be too bad if the Saturn V took up most of the photo...but in this instance, the Saturn V is only about a half inch tall.

Considering the money that probably went into these signatures, it's too bad a little more care wasn't taken to ensure better signature placement.

I agree with the previous assessment. If the signatures were more toward the top of the photo, it would balance a lot better.

That said, I think it's an excellent buy originally. The current asking price is more in line with the rarity of this crew completed and uninscribed, since it would not really be possible to complete today.

I thought it was a cool photo. I'd never seen any signed oversized Apollo 10 photos before that lot and I thought this was the nicest photo besides the crew portrait.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the price I got it at.That's also why you never start an auction at 99 cents!

Perhaps it is uncool of Jason to sell the item so soon after purchase but people buy and sell items for a profit.

Irrespective of the whats, whys, wherefores and signature placement $800 for a fully signed Apollo 10 photograph is a bargain with investment potential.

I thought the crew photo was best, Charlie Brown a close second and this one third. Strangely the last one sold for the highest price!

I thought getting the set of four signed was a great idea by whoever did it and I placed a bid on the lot in RR but got outbid.

If I were a richer man I'd keep this photo and envelope as I'll never get them again and would have bought the others but the ASF and Jim Lovell (and several others) are calling my name and wallet in November.

Price drop to $750 shipped in U.S.

$800 for both the crew signed 11x14 photo and the envelope signed by Cernan and Stafford.

Do people really get upset because someone else tries to sell something for a profit?

More power to ya. I understand this is a good, friendly community, but it's not a charity. If it's priced reasonably it will sell, and when it does who cares what the previous owner purchased it for?

I don't get it, or perhaps I'm just misunderstanding the replies in this thread.

I also picked up a Code 3 Lunar Roving Vehicle. Looks great. Only a very small piece of the hole that holds the antenna is broke off. It still holds it and is really basically unnoticeable. No box. Looks perfect and is the coolest looking display you'll ever see-$500 shipped in U.S.

Well, the Apollo 10 envelope sold on eBay so I'll make the Apollo 10 crew signed 11x14 by itself only $565 shipped in U.S.

I'm a tad stymied why no one wants an Apollo 10 crew signed piece for this price?

The Apollo 10 crew photo is now sold. I was abit stymied too but hey whatever. The person who bought it got a great piece at a great price and I made a little money to give Jim Lovell in November. Win-win.

I heavily considered purchasing the piece, but my reason for not buying the affordable Apollo 10 piece was the 11X14 format. I would have snatched it up in a 8x10 format, with more of the launch filling the frame.

The lunar rover is now spoken for. Still have the other items available. I thought it's a pretty good deal on the Aldrin signed 16x20 considring it's framed and matted.

The flight directors glove is nice if you're like me and enjoy things a bit more unique than the same 3 or 4 signed photos.
