Bruce McCandless was not a Back-up Commander. The two back-up commanders were Rusty Schweickart and Vance Brand. Here are the back-up crews;

Skylab II Back-Up - Rusty Schweickart, Bruce McCandless and Story Musgrave.
Skylab III & IV Back-Up - Vance Brand, William Lenoir and Don Lind.
