Looking for shuttle tiles, I know they're available to schools/university, but was hoping I could get my hands on some. |

Some background on the market for tiles (apologies if this is something you're already aware):For the latter third of the space shuttle program, NASA became increasingly concerned about controlling the disposition of the tiles (for various reasons) and so finding complete tiles in private in hands and on the market can be a challenge. When they do surface (with the proper provenance to establish they were acquired legally), they tend to sell for $750 to $1000 or more, each. (RR Auction, for example, has sold four tiles between November 2012 and November 2013 for $624, $924, $1,490 and $1,805.) (The tiles being distributed to teachers are property of their schools, and per a NASA agreement, must remain with the school for five years before they can be released [if then so desired]. Though I believe NASA has advised the schools that if they no longer have use of the tile, it should be returned to NASA.) |

Thanks for the info, based on my searching I got the impression that they weren't that easy to come by, I've been tracking the Bonham auction, I'll have to check it out. Thanks! |

The tile cannot leave the United States due to ITAR (International Traffic in Arms). |
