The photos taken by Jim McDivitt during Ed White's EVA are the first technically accomplished (and truly beautiful) photos taken by a human in space. (Photography just wasn't considered a priority during Mercury, so the astronauts weren't given the training or fine cameras to make it possible.)I am offering four vintage NASA "red serial number" 8x10 glossies. These prints were released quite soon after the mission. On the back of each is the "A KODAK PAPER" watermark, and a description in purple ink from the Manned Spacecraft Center. The photographer, Jim McDivitt, will be making his first autograph show appearance in several years at Spacefest in a few months. These would be interesting items to have him sign. If you are interested, please tell me the serial number of the one(s) you would like. Three of them are in excellent condition, without creases, scratches, etc. One of them is not. For price comparison, I'll point out that an identical photo sold on eBay recently for $239. (It'll say $265 when you click on it, but those are Canadian dollars.) Another seller sold several for $220 and $225. SOLD S-65-30427. Excellent condition. $195 SOLD SOLD S-65-30428. Excellent condition. $195. SOLD |

S-65-30429. This one has a fault that occurred while it was still in NASA hands: another photo with the description's purple ink still wet was put on top of it, and the "CENTER" in "Manned Spacecraft Center" appears in mirror image above White's helmet. Another letter appears on his arm. $175. SOLD S-65-30433. Excellent condition, and my favorite. $225 SOLD. |

These are truly beautiful and historic images from a different time in NASA's history. I know because I received the same ones as a young teen. I didn't keep mine, and I have not seen Steve's but knowing him I assume the are in good shape. |

First, thanks to Gary for the comments above!Three of the four photos have been sold. The one remaining, S-65-30429, is such an amazing image... but it does have that NASA-created flaw, plus a crease at the bottom I just noticed that you can't see in the scan. Therefore, I am open to offers below my asking price. - Steve | |
