It is believed that the silver colored Fliteline medals are scarcer than the gold colored medals. As evidenced by what was remaining in Captain Young's collection, that is confirmed.

The problem with the Fliteline medals is that the missions, like Gemini 10, that were struck from a base metal, were colored either in a silver or gold plating. That plating was then covered with a clear coat lacquer.

Over the years, as the metal oxidated (?), many Fliteline examples display tiny oxidation spots, dull finishes in some cases, and/or discolored reverses. There are no absolute perfect examples. They are as they were when they come off the mission in 1966 and still look beautiful.

In the end, the most important fact is that they flew.

The medals have been sorted and the best examples will go to the first come orders. Each is accompanied by a typed and signed letter of certification from Captain Young.

These are great historic artifacts and a last opportunity to acquire a Gemini 10 medal directly from Captain Young's collection.

  • Flown SILVER $1395 each
  • Flown GOLD $995 each

A very few silver and gold examples remain that have some scuffing, staining and/or blotchy finishes. Some with scuffing, color variation, spotty. In the end, this is how they flew and have never been tampered with.

SPECIAL LAST CHANCE PRICE IN CONSIDERATION OF THIS - $795.00 gold, $895.00 silver

Plus $15 shipping/handling

Do not overlook that these come directly from Captain John Young and each will be accompanied by a typed and signed original letter of certification.

Contact assetalt@aol.com to reserve one of these last beauties.

The last of both gold and silver are offered here at a discount due to some aesthetic issues. Some have scuffing, color variations, spotty. Al in all though, these are the way they flew and have never been tampered with and come straight out of Captain Young's safekeeping. I prefer them this way but I understand how some like them nice and shiny.

This is it! SPECIAL PRICE $795 gold, $895 silver plus $15 shipping/handling.

Shouldn't the LOA be worded "was flown with Michael Collins and I"? (grin, duck)

Actually, the wording of the LOA is correct. The easy way to test this is to remove the other individual's name and read the statement. If it reads correctly, then that is the proper way to write it. Had this been a solo mission, he would have said that it "...was flown with me..." on the mission. Placing his name first is also grammatically correct, although it is more common to place one's name in the latter position. But, this is merely a matter of courtesy and it is not grammatically improper to write it the way he did.
