For sale, Apollo 16 insurance covers and Robbins medallions from the collection of mission commander John Young.

  • Offered here are the last remaining few Apollo 16 crew signed insurance covers from the personal collection of Captain John Young. Coming from the commander of the mission's personal collection, these covers will certainly be considered the most desirable of the Apollo 16 crew-signed insurance covers.

Apollo 16 is also one of only two missions with just a single variety of cover, likely making the total number of covers smaller. The original total number of Apollo 16 crew signed covers was 375.

The most recent auction sale for an identical cover was $2,750 with buyer's premiums.

Insurance Covers have become highly popular among collectors and good research is now available. The essence of the Insurance Covers is that they were crew signed just days before their historic launches while in crew quarters during pre-launch quarantine. The crews were well aware of the value of these covers should they not return from their missions.

Collectors are now very desirous of assembling this most doable and most attractive collection. A "Type" collection, meaning one cover from each of Apollo 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 is comprised of only 6 covers and a complete collection; with all crew signed varieties is made up of just 11 covers.

The reverse of each cover is signed by John Young and has the typed notation –

    Original Apollo 16 Insurance Cover
    Pre-launch signed on obverse
    from my personal collection.
Certified Insurance Covers from any of the 6 missions that had them are very rare. This offer should attract much collector attention, so please take quick action to secure one for your collection. There are just a few and when they are gone, they are gone.

    $1995.00 each plus $15.00 shipping/handling.

  • Offered here is a genuine unflown Apollo 16 silver Robbins medallion from the personal collection of mission commander John Young.

It is accompanied by a typed and signed letter of certification on his letterhead, confirming that it is a genuine Robbins medal and that it is from his personal collection.

As the interest continues to move ever higher for Robbins medallions, we have seen prices escalate dramatically, for both flown and unflown medals. Flown Apollo 16 Robbins medals are the second scarcest medals among the Apollo missions, with only 98 flown. As these continue to climb in value, collector interest has risen greatly for unflown ones to complete their collections.

Recent sales of the scarcest flown Apollo Robbins, Apollo 15, 16 and 17, have seen prices well in excess of $1,000 for the unflown versions.

This medallion will be considered among the most desirable as it comes from Captain Young’s personal collection and is certified as such.

Contact assetalt@aol.com to reserve this great piece of history.

There are two (2) of these available and then they are gone. This was the last of Captain Young’s Apollo 16 unflown Robbins medallions.

    $995 plus $15 shipping/handling.

Please contact assetalt@aol.com.

Please also contact us if you are desirous of purchasing a Flown Apollo 10, Apollo 16, STS 1 and/or STS 9 Robbins Medallion.

There is now just one unflown Apollo 16 Robbins Medallion still available.

There is also the last flown STS-1 silver Robbins Medallion still available. This is the last one from Captain Young's collection. It has a very desirable low serial number 7F.

There are just two (2) flown STS-9 silver Robbins Medallions still available from Captain Young's collection. Both are low serial numbers as well, #8F and #10F.

When these are gone they are gone. Each is accompanied by a typed and signed certification letter from Captain Young.
