YES! Please send it to me as soon as possible. The email linked on cS should be correct. I still haven't gotten a reply back from the seller. Thanks.

The file is too big to send through my email provider (it's 304 MB). So I uploaded it to one of my websites.

You (and anyone else who wants it) can download it from here.

I'll keep it up for a few days, then I'll remove it to open up the server space.

Phill was totally overwhelmed with requests for over 24 hours. He said he will be in touch by next Wednesday for those whose emails reached him by 13:00 UK local time, last May 18.

He sent the following message:

I will be replying by email to everyone who is buying with an email that lists what they have been successful in obtaining over the next few days.

I hope to get these out by Wednesday 22nd May 2013 - at very very latest Friday 24th May 2013.

If you have not heard from me by Friday 10pm email me and I will check.

So, we just have to wait. Hope this helps!

The latest message from Phill to all cS members:
The "Humble Spaceflight Sale program" has had its optical subassembly "repaired" (passive resting!) on Sunday and is now fully up and running again this Monday morning and all emails received on Sunday and very late Saturday are being looked at in date/time sequence received and should get an answer today Monday.
He went on to say that there are very few items now remaining and he will adjust the list to just show what is still left later today.

He hopes to start e-mailing successful buyers with a list of what they are buying with the cost (less a discount in majority of cases) and the shipping fees starting tomorrow (Tuesday). Phill says it is likely to take a week or so to contact everyone involved, so please be patient.

Sent out a list of 32 items, hope to get at least a couple. Almost like sending messages in a bottle and tossing them in the ocean.

Didn't get what I wanted either. Makes me wonder if one or two of the dealers, with their deep pockets for inventory, get in there and "cleaned out the shop"...

Hopefully, the stuff finds good homes, and doesn't end up on the resale market too quickly. But even if it does, that is life!

I picked up five of the 15 I requested and I put in the request yesterday. Thanks Phil for offering your items to the community.

I was very close to the first and got what I wanted except one. I have to go back and look but about 12 items. They are not going to be resold.

I don't know what I have got, if anything. I went after five items. Phill said two of those had definitely gone already. I wanted the six DVDs (well three of the six anyway) but somebody beat me to them by the time I had decided to ask for them.

I was very tempted by the flight plans but as I had just got rid of my last couple I couldn't see the point of buying just to hoard, even at those prices!

Waiting for four days the confirmation of my list.
I finally received confirmation that I will receive some object, but few compared to those required. It's okay though, it's fun the same.
Thanks Phill!

I put in a list of 32 items; 20 came back as not taken and I finally accepted 14 of them. A nice selection of Russian, Gemini and museum items. Thank you, Phill!

I would suggest that anyone who wanted to purchase from Phill check their winning items against their own lists and the grand total as well.

Indeed, Phill told me that I won about half of what I wanted (I sent him three different emails, containing three different lists of wanted items), whereas in the end I got bestowed with four items only. Moreover, the grand total is two-fold their actual prices (shipping costs not included, obviously).

I contacted Phill and he told me he did not see my second and third email at all(although he also replied to them!).

I have been offered a 10% discount, as an apology, on any remaining items. I obviously declined as I was interested only in the items included in my list.

As was easy to imagine, to manage a 1000 items sale turned out to be difficult.

Let us see how this issue can be sorted out.

In the light of that, do check your respective purchases and grand totals too.

Update: As previously said, I kindly asked Phill to revise his selling list by selling me the items that I would have won if he had seen my second and third email containing respectively the second and third part of my list (which, nevertheless, he also replied to!).

Since he did not get any payment yet from buyers and, even more so, he did not send them out yet, this could have been easily feasible. Above all, in order to follow a principle of equity in this sale.

Yet, he only offered a 10% discount on what I already won, as an apology, and has just refused to make up for his two macroscopic errors (which he himself acknowledged), writing me that he will decide who will get what, whereas in his "answer-letter" he clearly wrote to have a printed list in date/time order of all emails received from buyers.

This statement implied that he would have sold his items on a first come, first serve basis, otherwise there would be no need to keep a list in date/time order.

On the contrary, according to his recent statement, it seems that he decided to follow different rules to allocate his items.

Moreover, I also advised him that he sent me a total due of £114 whereas I should pay £53 only, based on the prices in his PDF. Yet, he did not reply about that.

I have also been contacted by another cS'er who wanted to share with me a similar experience with this very same sale. I suggested that he should post his experience here because it could be helpful to other buyers, but it seems that he would rather not expose himself.

I regret to say that what happened casts a shadow on this sale, above all, considering that it happened not just once but two times at least.

I literally spent all the night looking at Phill's list to find interesting items to buy, because he stated that they would have been sold on a first come, first serve basis.

If I had known earlier that he would not follow that rule anymore, I would have avoided to lose all the night (and sleep as well) looking at his list.

Very disappointed by this experience.

In the mad rush to put an order I inadvertently got a couple of my numbers muddled and offered items which I wasn't expecting. Phil has offered me the Apollo 12 Final Lunar Surface Operations Plan, number 42 on his list. I am a little unsure on whether £250 is a fair price for this item and would be grateful for any advice.

I have had overall a good experience with Phill and I thank him for offering his items at a more than fair rate. One item he said I had won and then said later I had not was item 88. One item turns out to have been listed twice so the person who bought the first of the two listed got it. Other than that there are no complaints. In a sale this large by a collector not a dealer there are bound to be some mess ups and we will have to live with them, If Vidoz who stayed up all night looking at the list thinks he was in first on items, I dare he say he might be mistaken. I know I was in very quickly after the list was posted but several items besides 88 were already gone.

The list was posted here at 10:10 on the 17th. My first email was sent at 11:11 followed by a second at 12:23. Several of the items I were looking at were gone by then so if vidoz was much later than 2 or 3 pm, then I would imagine quite a few of the best items were gone.

Again this was a huge undertaking especially for a person with failing eyesight, getting inundated by many many emails so he needs to be cut some slack.

Thanks Phill.

(If one of the members reading this won lot 88 and could be enticed into letting it go, please let me know.)

I 'bid' on the items I liked three days after the list was posted, so I thought I lucked out on the ones I selected. As mentioned in my previous post, I ultimately took 14 items, including most on my wish list. Not knowing Phill's current health situation, perhaps a little patience and understanding is in order. Yes, it can be frustrating but in the end I think it will be resolved to (almost) everyone's satisfaction. If only any person on this forum could do better in disposing of their vast collection!

Bottom line is, this is an individual selling his items, not a business. He can do how he pleases. I wanted item 88 as well and did not get it, oh well,.

I'm grateful that Phil offered his collection to our community first, rather than taking it to an auction house or selling it outright to a dealer. I am also grateful that a fellow cS community member alerted me to the posting via email within an hour of when it went up, so that I was able to pick up a few items.

Quality items like these, from a venerable cS member and a first-hand observer of so much history, are so rarely offered. I'm sure it must seem like sharks going after the scent of blood in the water, with the combination of a huge collection up for sale all at once and a very large number of interested parties.

Keep in mind that Phil is in declining health and is parting with a lifetime of treasures and memories! The emotional and physical toll of dealing with this sale would be beyond my capacity were I in his shoes. I hope that if some people acquired items with the intent of reselling them, that they will be as gracious with the prices on re-sale as Phil has been.

Well, I fully agree with you fredtrav. Indeed, if you carefully re-read my previous posts, I have never wrote anywhere to be in first on any items. I might or might not. Who knows. But I will never know if Phill does not check the second and third part of my list (definitely sent prior to many other buyers, who got much more items than me), putting my wanted items in his list and taking into account the date/time order rule that he himself fixed. I only asked Phill for that.

Really not a problem if he made a mistake by not seeing my last two lists. I am cutting him some slack for sure, as errors do happen. I would have just appreciated if he could make up for the acknowledged errors by checking my previously unseen lists, in order to verify if, by chance, I had won any other items. That is just what I asked for.

After all, if there are members who sent their lists after 3 days and succeded in getting 14 items, I think I might have won a few more than 4 items only, considering that I requested 77 items the same day that Phill posted the list.

I just feel sorry because I got a rather harsh reply, telling me he would not have taken into account my further lists, and that he is the one who decide who gets what, instead of following the first came, first serve rule that he himself fixed.

Not a problem though, I did not want to start any argument on that but, as I already wrote in my previous post, I just wanted to share my experience with other buyers, so as to advise them to double-check what they won and how much they have to pay for. I thought this heads up might be helpful, as some errors did happen.
Thanks to everyone for sharing your opinion.

Indeed so. As you indicate I was the first to write, but I'll get only a few objects with respect to my list. I do not want to force Phill to sell to me, he is free to sell to anyone who wants. I accept his will and I respect that.I hope that everyone thinks the same.

Luigi, you were the first to post a reply here that you sent an e-mail to Phill, but that does not mean you were the first to write Phill. Your post "Email sent" was made more than an hour after the original listing appeared. I would say it is a safe bet that others wrote him in that first hour.

As noted earlier, I posted the original message for Phill and there was no indication he was reading this thread (that I created for him), so there was no need for anyone to confirm they had sent an e-mail on this topic.

As for Fabio (vidoz), I'm sure Phill would have gladly sold to you the other items you had requested if he had seen your attached lists at the time they were sent. Given the size and scope of the collection he is selling, and the reason for his sale, I would say he is doing the best.

(And just so there are no concerns, I waited until after I posted Phill's message for all to see to send my own want list, which was for only two space shuttle-era items.)

Robert, I sent my list to Phill before putting the post on cS ... much earlier!
I had the good fortune to see the post directly and then submit an initial list with 20 items, then I sent other emails with other objects.
Anyway, I'm happy all the same, I hope Phill send me as confirmed in the last email.

Oh well, I didn't manage to get any items in the end as I was beaten to all of them despite sending my email in within hours of the first post. Must remember to aim for less popular stuff next time!

Hi Phill, gutted from Walsall here. I only just read this series of posts and probably live closer than anyone else on cS.

Ah well win some lose some. What a great collection of items. So near and yet so far away.
