I am looking to get hold of materials that have been flown in space - any kind of material will do fine, i.e. heatshield, bin liner, etc. |

The STS-8 flown covers are genuine and are available at less than $20 if you look for a while (less than the original issue price).Another suggestion: Type in "space flown" on eBay to see if anything you like is for sale. |

Thank you but I mean material on its own (not attached to anything, literally just the material). I've taken a look over eBay and I'm not convinced. |

I'll follow up on that comment by saying 'I'm not convinced in the amount of material available'. Ideally I'm looking for a fair bit, not just a few patches or the stuff here and there. |

ITAR restrictions will preclude anybody in the US from legally exporting heatshield material. |

Hmm. There must be material that can be exported, if not the heatshield? |

How large of a piece of material? |

As large as I can find. I'm out to buy anything if I'm honest - but preferably A5+ (but I'm still happy to buy smaller pieces). |

Try looking for flown shuttle insulation blankets. There are plenty of them around and they are therefore reasonably priced. Look for the accompanying paperwork to verify they were flown.Good Luck! |

I'm trying to keep my large, intact flown materials preserved, although I do have a 7.6x7.6 cm piece of Space Shuttle Payload Bay liner that I don't need anymore. Picture here.I paid $45 USD for it, so that (plus shipping; $1 USD for USPS first class to Europe unless you'd prefer something different) is how much I'd sell it for. |

You could also try David Bryant at the Space Station, he always has some good sized chunks for sale. |

I have spoken to him already. Apparently this stuff is harder to get hold of than some of you are making out |

"Keep calm and carry on". It's the journey, not the destination - something will turn up! |

Try contacting Donnis Willis of LunarLegacies.com. He often has flown insulation blankets and the like.It sounds to me like you have a pair of sharp scissors and a lucite mold at the ready... or am I misinterpreting your motivation? |

The problem is that, now the Shuttles have finished flying, there are no more ODTPs so no more material will come on the market: this is the reason that Enterprise material is the hardest to source... (Luckily I got a fair bit of wadding!) |

Always an option, but not right now. I'm interested for collecting and preservation purposes for the time being... either that or I will make a nice trendy jacket out of it all |
