I would be interested in buying individual American Space Pioneer patches. There have been numerous lots of them on eBay, but I don't want to buy six of the same astronaut, but I would like to buy one. |

Where is a list of all the Space Pioneer Patches? It appears that there is more than one set. An early round set for Mercury through Skylab and a later square set for the shuttle. Is this correct? |

What is the background on these patches? When were they made, how many were made, who were they made of?Any assistance would be great. |

The background from the way I know it is during the mid '90s a person name Randy Wagner was selling them through Final Frontier magazine (which is no out of business now).Randy, I am assuming was forming a business selling autographs by approaching the astronauts for their signatures on these special made patch relating to their missions. Some could sign and others couldn't for reason of legal issues for the sale of their signature (somewhere along this area because some patches never came into productions after promising them for sale). The link above show what was produced. Randy, I just learned, has passed away. His wife attempted briefly to sell them. She ended to attend the daily care of him and their three kids. Randy was also a collector of space items and signed photos. His wife was selling some of his photos and patches during the earlier years of eBay then stopped. She has given all of his collection to a friend who is currently selling them and they are splitting the earning and cost. |

Eagle One Aerospace did the American Space Pioneer patches. They started them around 1992. There were only going to be 500 patches signed by each astronaut. The price was $24.95, except for the patches they did for Grissom, Chaffee and Irwin. They were signed by a family member (Betty Grissom, Don Chaffee and Mary Irwin). Here is a list that I have and from when they came out: - Mitchell
- Carpenter
- Cooper
- Schirra
- Conrad
- Slayton
- Carr
- Aldrin
- Cunningham
- Bean
- Shepard
- Borman
- Ed Gibson
- Pogue
- Chaffee
- Grissom
- Irwin
- Worden
- McCandless
- Hilmers
- Fabian
- Bobko
- Adamson
- Melnick
- Stewart
- Mullane
- Lichtenberg
They also did two that looked like the astronaut photo for Ed Gibson and Bob Stewart(?). Eagle One also did one for Skylab 3 that had Carr, Gibson, and Pogue. Hope this helps. Is anyone able to add to the list? |

This is the end of a sad tale. Randy should be remembered more than this; I got back into patch collecting when he started the 4" replicas of the Gemini patches back around 1989-90 timeframe. He was a great resource for some pretty neat patches, before the internet really took off.He even had a light-hearted Christmas patch produced for several years. Eagle One Aerospace lives on in my memories! RIP Randy. |

I'm resurrecting this thread after more than eight years, as I have a complete set of these patches as listed above for sale with the exception of the "two that looked like the astronaut photo for Ed Gibson and Bob Stewart." Each is in mint condition and comes with its original certificate of authenticity.I'd like to be able to at least recoup my original investment, so I'm asking $25 each plus postage, although the following are priced as follows: - Carpenter $45
- Schirra $45
- Cooper $45
- Slayton $35
- Conrad $35
- Aldrin $100
- Cunningham $35
- Bean $35
- Shepard $85
- Borman $35
- Mitchell $35
- Worden $35
- Skylab 3 $35
Please e-mail me if you are interested in any of these; I'm also open to an offer for the entire set of 28. Thank you. |
