One Apollo A7L right hand EVA glove for sale, made for and used in training by, Jack Schmitt. Not unique but pretty damned rare all the same. I've seen approximately 9 such gloves for sale over the last 15 years. The most recent being a pair of Mitchell training gloves that sold at auction last year for $22,000 plus commission. Unlike many of the gloves sold at previous auctions this glove comprises outer TMG layer AND the inner pressure glove complete with wrist connect. ID label and name tag sewn inside the cuff detailing serial number, date of manufacture, contract number etc. etc. Condition shows some wear and tear but overall in good condition. Please contact me for further inmformation and photos. Bids invited over $8,500. The sale to close by Saturday June 3rd. Regards, Rick. For those interested in the glove, my apologies for being too stupid to be able to post a picture here. But if you check out the site below, and look in the Apollo hardware section you will find what I believe is the mate to the glove currently on sale. http://www.spaceracemuseum.com/ I should point out this sale has nothing to do with Space Race Museam or Matt Thomas. I can provide pictures of the actual piece. Contact me at; RickMul57@aol.com Regards, Rick. [This message has been edited by Rick Mulheirn (edited May 30, 2006).] |

On behalf of Rick I'm posting pictures of the actual Schmitt glove that he's selling. If it's even half as nice as the one I own then it's probably the best spacesuit item you'll ever buy.Seriously. I took it to Dublin for the Armstrong talk a couple of years back, to show to some fellow space-nuts. These guys all ended up taking turns getting a photo with it. It's that good. (Don't worry, I won't mention any names ) (Except yours Steve Proctor ) I'm not involved in this sale at all, I'm just evangelical about how great these things are. Good luck if you're bidding.
Cheers, Matt

I KNEW I'd get involved somehow!!! I recall well sitting with the glove in my lap in a manner reminiscent of Blofeld in the Bond movies stroking his large white cat. "So Mr Bond...." Steve |

Several interested parties but no firm bids yet. It is looking likely that the first person to bid on the glove will win it!Regards, Rick. |

Rick, Do you mind if I just window shop:] I showed my wife the pic of the glove last night and said if I offered $8000 I could possibly purchase the glove. She looked at me and laughed. If only she understood... Thanks for keeping my hopes up that someday there may be an Apollo glove for me. Paul |
