I received an email from Dana this evening concerning my previous post. I am hopeful that Dana will do the right thing, but not very optimistic. I am sure he will view my previous post as an attack on his character and an excuse to not do the right thing. Time will tell and I will post the outcome.IP: Logged |

Wow. That's EXACTLY the same as my story! This new msg traffic is also a heck of a coincidence. Just half an hour ago I decided to send Dana an email to try to get an update on my 1/12 Mercury model. My msg to him came back undeliverable and his website doesn't work either. I may have lost a $75 dollar model and $375 commission. Here are the last words I got from him the end of May: "Because of a situation entirely out of my control everything I have been working on was delayed. This was a family health issue that is more important that you, more important than your model and more important than anything else in my life. Regardless of all of this, your model will in fact arrive shortly and again, I apologize for the delay.
Please let me know when the model arrives.
Dana"Dana, if you're out there, pls contact me too so I can find out what's happening.

Sorry to 'jump' in this conversation. But it seems that Dana makes great replica's. Can somebody email me a list or photo's what he really makes ?
Is his stuff still for sale ? His website does not work.
I would love to have some of his stuff !------------------

As one of the two New Zealanders at the San Antonio show (and I'm married to the other one who was there) I think it fair to comment in response to Larry's post that while I have lost a small amount of money on a three-item order to Dana which was placed and promised for the UACC show in 2005, he did eventually deliver in time for the 2006 show. The result, I think, was from three concerted email efforts separated by several months through 2005-2006. When Dana stopped replying to emails I found that a message like"Dana, your email doesn't seem to be working so if I haven't heard from you in 24 hours I'll post a note on CollectSpace to try and get in touch with you" usually got a fairly immediate response.
Dana informed me that the delivery (a shingle and two Atomic City Mercury stands)didn't make it in time for the 2005 show as it was returned to his address smashed into little pieces while in transit with the Postal Service
Then wet weather meant drying times for the replacement were longer
then he had family illnesses
followed by his workshop flooding
and I forget the rest of the reasons given.
I wouldn't ever deal with him again, however Dana, on this occasion, did eventually deliver.

You might still be able to purhase the Mercurt Spacecraft shingles from Farthest Reaches, assuming they have any left in stock. Click on the Mercury category and scroll until you're nearly at the bottom of the page. [Edited by mjanovec (October 25, 2006).] IP: Logged |
