collectSPACE Three history-making space fliers to enter Astronaut Hall of Fame in MayA record-setting spacewalker, one of only two women who commanded the space shuttle and the American who logged the longest U.S. spaceflight to date will be inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame this spring. Michael Lopez-Alegria, Pamela Melroy and Scott Kelly, who between them flew on 10 missions to the Hubble Space Telescope and International Space Station, will be honored for their careers as veteran NASA astronauts. Their enshrinement, at a public ceremony to be held at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida on May 16, will raise the Astronaut Hall of Fame's ranks to 102 members out of the almost 350 men and women who have been part of NASA's corps since 1959. |

Astronaut Scholarship Foundation release U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction PostponedThe Astronaut Scholarship Foundation is monitoring the global COVID-19 outbreak and following the information provided through the World Health Organization, Center for Disease Control, state and local health agencies. The health and safety of our U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction guests is our top priority. After thoughtful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the upcoming U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction, originally scheduled for May 16th at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. We understand and share the disappointment of our guests planning to join us in celebration of this year's 2020 U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Class. ASF will continue to monitor the impact COVID-19 has on our community and determine plans to honor Michael Lopez-Alegria, Pamela Melroy and Scott Kelly's induction into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame. Updates will be shared with you as they are confirmed. |

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex release U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame InductionNovember 13, 2021 Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Veteran astronauts Michael E. Lopez-Alegria, Pamela A. Melroy, and Scott Kelly will receive one of their industry's highest honors. They will be inducted into the United States Astronaut Hall of FameĀ® as the inductees of the 2020* class and join the 99 individuals who currently hold that esteemed honor. The induction ceremony will take place on the bottom floor of Space Shuttle Atlantis to honor these heroes. Inductees must have made their first flight at least 17 years before the induction, must be a U.S. citizen, a NASA-trained commander, pilot, or mission specialist, and have orbited the Earth at least once. As the date of the ceremony comes closer, more details will be available for this prestigious event. * Astronauts Lopez-Alegria, Melroy, and Kelly were selected as inductees in 2020. However, their induction ceremony has been postponed until November 2021 to allow us to honor their achievement with friends and family safely. For this reason, there will not be a 2021 class of inductees. |

collectSPACE Astronaut Hall of Fame adds three space station-era astronauts still making historyTypically, the space explorers inducted annually into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame do not add significantly to their records between the time when they are announced and when they are enshrined. This year's class, though, was anything but typical. Celebrated at a public ceremony held at NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida on Saturday (Nov. 13), Michael Lopez-Alegria, Pamela Melroy and Scott Kelly became the 100th, 101st and 102nd astronauts to enter the hall. The celebration, delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, came almost two years after they were chosen for the honor. | |
