Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) release
Apollo 13 50th Anniversary Gala Update

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation is monitoring the global COVID-19 outbreak and following the information provided through the World Health Organization, Center for Disease Control, state and local health agencies. The health and safety of our Apollo 13 50th Anniversary guests is our top priority. After thoughtful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the upcoming Apollo 13 50th Anniversary Celebration Gala, originally scheduled for April 18th at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

We understand and share the disappointment of our guests planning to join us and commemorate this historic mission. ASF will continue to monitor the impact COVID-19 has on our community and determine plans to celebrate Apollo 13 and this mission's golden anniversary. Updates will be shared with you as they are confirmed.

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation has replanned its Apollo 13 50th anniversary gala as a virtual celebration.
Last Spring, we made the difficult decision to postpone our highly anticipated Apollo 13 50th Anniversary Gala – giving us all a future date when we could come together after the pandemic dissipated and life resumed to normal. Unfortunately, "normal" is not in near sight.

As the effects of the pandemic linger, safety remains the top priority for both the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation and our partners at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. At this time, an in-person event at the Saturn V Center will not be possible.

This commemoration is important to us. We cannot think of a mission that inspires us more to navigate through this unprecedented time and we are excited to announce that we will be delivering this celebration directly to you!

Those who previously bought tickets for this sold out event will be able to take part in two virtual panels on Oct. 9:
  • Virtual Panel Discussion with Charlie Duke, Joe Kerwin and Jerry Bostick
  • Virtual Panel Discussion with Jim Lovell, Fred Haise and Gerry Griffin
...they will also receive several celebration gifts through mail, including a commemorative name badge with lanyard, an event program, a commemorative beer glass (with original event date of April 18, 2020) and items from Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
