Earthrise 50th Anniversary CelebrationDec 21, 2018, 7:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Earthrise is an iconic photo. Astronauts commander Frank Borman, command module pilot Jim Lovell and lunar module pilot William Anders launched aboard Apollo 8 on Dec. 21, 1968. During their mission, they captured this image of Earth as they orbited the Moon. It was unlike anything the world had ever seen. This snapshot, taken on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 1968, showed our lonely and beautiful planet, and it is credited with sparking an environmental movement.
On Dec. 21, 2018, join The Constellation Team and Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex for a celebration of the photo's 50th anniversary, 50 years later to the day of the mission's launch.
The event will include a panel presentation and reception. During the presentation in IMAX Theater, join four astronauts and other presenters (to be announced) as they share their profound experiences of seeing Earth from space.
After in Space Shuttle Atlantis, catch an Earthrise themed projection show during the evening's reception. The projection is built from artwork by children from all over the world who have participated in a Space for Art Foundation Earthrise project. Plus, immerse yourself into an Earthrise virtual reality experience and explore related art on display.
Guests will be able to enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and drinks throughout the evening. Details to follow.
