Don't forget about the 45th Space Congress in Cape Canaveral that starts up today for a 3 day space symposium.
Space Congress is a forum for a breadth of topics regarding current space initiatives through relevant panel discussions and prominent speakers. The Congress allows for technical interchange between aerospace professionals, faculty, students and the general public during the panel sessions.

This year’s conference theme, The Next Great Steps, will take place February 27 through March 1, 2018.

Enjoyed a great day today. Highlights from Day 1 of the 45th Space Congress in Cape Canaveral:

The "First Great Steps" Astronaut Panel. Bob Crippen opened his remarks with a moving tribute to "his mentor and friend" John Young. He shared besides being a brilliant pilot and engineer, John was one of the funniest men he ever knew. After witnessing one of the SRB qualification firing a Thiokol exec asked, "John how'd you like to ride one of those?" Young replied: "I'd rather ride two of them."

After the panel was finished I went up to the table and greeted them. Nicole Stott complimented me on the Space Congress patch design. When I shook Crip's hand he said, "Hey the Patch Guy!"

I gifted each Crip, Bob Cabana and Ellen Ochoa with my Columbia patch and explained it was inspired by the effort to "Bring Columbia Home" and thanked them for their efforts on that. I also explained that it was only available from the Huffman Museum in Hemphill, TX to benefit their programs.

Indeed it was, Tim, and good to see that you had designed the 45th Space Congress patch and sponsor plaques! And what a nice plug to see in this year's program of events about your devoted and distinguished space artistic career.

Didn't you also design the 44th Space Congress patch as well in 2016? Way to go Tim!

I attended the first day of the Space Congress and it was a very nice event. I enjoyed hearing three different presentations with the most memorable being the astronaut panel. A side benefit was 85 degree weather and sunshine. Got to chat with Tim G. Enjoyed the astronaut meet and greet in the early evening. Interesting sponsor tables, too.
