Tickets are now on sale for the Galactic Gathering with Charlie Duke. Tickets can be purchased here.We are holding a 1960s cocktail reception on July 20 from 8-10pm. A photo opportunity from 2-4. Then the evening symposium from 7-9pm. We regret there will be no autographs at this event. We tried to work things out but we could not work in the time. Tickets are selling and are expected to sale out quickly. - $75 will get you into the symposium
- $50 will get your picture with Charlie Duke
However, you can combine them both for $100 saving a little money. I have seen individual tickets sale for $135 to hear Charlie speak. I think these prices are very reasonable. If you have questions email us. |

It is time again to revisit this event again. Christmas has ended and July will be here before we all know it. We, the board of The Grissom Boyhood Home, do not want anyone to miss out on this opportunity. We are piggybacking on the success of the first Galactic Gathering. We have some surprises in store for this event. The cocktail party is beginning to take form. That will be a one of a kind event. There will be live entertainment, a cash bar, and plenty of room to mingle and discuss space. Plus, you never know who may just show up!! The symposium for the following evening is sure to be a huge hit again. I know General Duke is excited to be coming in. With the lose of Capt. John Young this month I am certain there will be some sort of tribute to him that evening. John is special to the City of Mitchell, Indiana. He flew with Gus on GT-3 and that spacecraft is in Mitchell at Spring Mill State Park. He has been to the Grissom Boyhood Home (before it was the Boyhood Home so to speak), and he was the Commander for Apollo 16 with Charlie. This will be a super event. Tickets have began selling again and we expect this to really pick up momentum now. We will again be having give-a-ways at various events. No reason to come and not get something for coming. Rooms are blocked off at Spring Mill Inn; ask for the Galactic Gathering Block (812-849-4508). |

The Galactic Gathering 2018 is shaping up to be another blow out event. Due to the success we have had in the last year (and in recent months) the Board of Directors have ordered another cut in prices for 2018. Why you may ask? They want to ensure they give out the rock bottom price to ensure everyone gets to see moonwalker Charlie Duke. The new cost is now $50 for a single ticket to the Charlie Duke Symposium experience. $50 for a single photo opportunity with astronaut Charlie Duke. $30 for a single ticket to the 1960’s Cocktail Party the night prior. The Board didn't stop there... they went cheaper! They have dropped the cost of the symposium/photo bundle option as well. Now it is $75 for the bundle of the symposium and photo! Talk about a steal. We didn't forget about the cocktail party, it now has an option for $50 for a couple. Again, the Board wants to say thank you for what you have done for us. Take advantage of this opportunity. If you have already purchased tickets refunds are on the way soon. We haven't sent out the first price cut refund due to thinking we may do this. So be patient!! |

I just purchased my ticket for a photo op with General Duke and I couldn't be more excited!!! If my significant other wants to join in my photo op with the General, does she need to have her own ticket? Or can she just join in my photo op? Thanks for the help! |

Congratulations to everyone that had a part in planning and putting on this event. I drove over from Cincinnati and had a great day. Started at the Grissom childhood home, where volunteers greeted each visitor at the door and then explained items in each room. They even served cupcakes and cookies bearing Gus Grissom image (in astronaut helmet) in the frosting! From there I went to the Photo Op with Charlie Duke. Very well organized and efficient and great to spend even just a few seconds with Mr Duke. The evening symposium was held in the Opera House, a great venue for this type of event. Lasted just about 2 hours with plenty of time for Q&A which included both Charlie and his wife Dotty. A great and very memorable day, for a very worthy cause. Thanks again to all involved. I am looking forward to seeing what may be planned for next year. Whatever it is, I would highly recommend you try to attend. |
