San Diego Air & Space Museum release
America celebrates Apollo 16 45th Anniversary

Wednesday, June 7, 2017
5:30 PM: Evening Reception
6:30 PM: Dinner and Program
San Diego Air & Space Museum, San Diego, California

Experience yesterday's real "Space Cowboys" and meet today's trailblazers as they share their vision of the Final Frontier.

Join us for an exciting evening highlighting the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs, and for a glimpse into the future of space exploration.

Apollo 16 is considered by many one of the high points of space exploration and one of the most ambitious scientific expeditions ever!

Twenty-four Americans journeyed to the moon in just four years – from 1968 to 1972. Lunar exploration really hit new heights during the last two of those four years, with extended stays on the moon, ambitious exploration on the surface and from orbit, and long journeys in electric powered rovers.

This is a rare opportunity to meet Charlie Duke (Apollo 16 Lunar Module Pilot), Gerry Griffin and Glynn Lunney (Mission Control Flight Directors).

Planned attendees also include: Buzz Aldrin, Bill Anders, Walt Cunningham, Joe Engle, Fred Haise, Gene Kranz, Ken Mattingly, Milt Windler, and Al Worden.

Do you think it would be possible to get a signature from a planned attendee (obviously not Anders) such as mattingly? The only reason I ask is that mattingly normally does not charge for his signature and sometime (I have heard) that he will sign a some events.

That is a question probably best directed to the museum.

Does anyone know why this anniversary event is almost two months after the actual anniversary? Is it just a matter of finding a day to suit the participants' schedules?

i was able to contact the museum to get an answer to my question. The reply was very pleasant but stated that the agreement made between the retired astronauts and the museum was strictly no autographs.

All times are CT (US)
