Missile, Space and Range Pioneers release
Cabana, Haise headline Space Pioneers Banquet

Kennedy Space Center Director and former shuttle astronaut, Bob Cabana, and Apollo 13 Lunar Module Pilot, Fred Haise, will be panelists at an event celebrating the Golden Anniversary of the Missile, Space and Range Pioneers (MSRP). A special award will also be presented to Brigadier General Wayne R. Monteith commander of the 45th Space Wing for the Air Force's 50 years of support of MSRP.

The MSRP 50th anniversary banquet is October 21 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Cocoa Beach and is open to the public. The banquet includes a sit-down dinner and a cash bar. Social starts at 5:30 pm, with dinner served at 7:00 pm. Tickets are limited and are $45 for MSRP members, $60 for non-members, and $35 for students and active military. VIP Corporate tables for eight participants are available for $500.

Tickets for the banquet and memberships for the Missile, Space and Range Pioneers can be purchased here. Checks can also be mailed to P. O. Box 254034, Patrick Air Force Base, FL, 32925.

The banquet, Space Pioneers: Past, Present, and Future, will feature a panel of astronaut speakers of the past, present, and future eras of manned space exploration. Fred Haise, who earned fame as one of three astronauts trapped on the crippled Apollo 13 spacecraft, current Kennedy Space Center Director and former shuttle astronaut Bob Cabana will be speaking.

Made up of more than 1,000 members worldwide, The Missile, Space and Range Pioneers, incorporated November 2, 1966, creates an opportunity for people involved in the early missile, space and range activities at Cape Canaveral to socialize, while also imparting their passion and vision to the next generation of space explorers. "As we celebrate our 50th anniversary this year, I encourage all members of the Space Coast and beyond to join us to hear first-hand from astronauts of the past, present and future," said Bill Allen, MSRP President.
