In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio will be hosting an open house at Lewis Field (beside Cleveland Hopkins Airport) on May 21 and 22, 2016, and at its Plum Brook Station on June 11 and 12. For more information about what to see and do, please see here.

I would like to encourage all to come out and visit NASA Glenn and see some of the cutting edge research that goes on here.

Lewis Field, is that where NASA Glenn is?

Know the airport, which is all messed up with construction for the Republican convention coming downtown soon, and IX center, but Lewis Field?

When they renamed NASA Lewis Research Center after John Glenn, a lot of the older employees wanted to still honor Dr. Lewis, who was the first director of NASA's predecessor, the NACA. As a result, it was renamed the NASA Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field. A similar renaming was recently done at the Neil Armstrong Flight Research Center at Dryden Field (aka, Dryden Research Center). Lewis field is located off of Brookpark Road, on the west side of Cleveland Hopkins Airport. Plum Brook Station, NASA Glenn's satellite facility is located just south of Sandusky, Ohio (near Cedar Point Amusement Park), on State Route 250, and north of the Ohio Turnpike.

As referenced on the website, if you're coming to the open house at Lewis Field, visitors will park for free at the IX Center and will be shuttled over to Lewis Field for the open house. I hope that answers your question. Look forward to seeing you there.

From what I heard at the open house workshop a couple of days ago, there will be astronauts at the open house. Which particular astronaut(s) will be at the open house will be announced at a later date.

Wow. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the center, Glenn (Lewis) held an open house this weekend. This was the first in eight years.

Any thoughts of the public not being interested in NASA or space can certainly be discounted now.

Yesterday, NASA had to close the lot several hours early due to being over capacity. It was reported to be a 2.5 hour wait to get to the parking lot.

I went today. I arrived half an hour prior to opening. Over 500 to 600 people were already in line!

Plum Brook is open next month. I'm getting there earlier!

The response by the public to the NASA Glenn Open House was amazing and unprecedented. People waited an hour in traffic and another hour to catch the shuttle bus over to the campus, and still told us that it was well worth the wait!!

Thanks to all of those folks who made it over to the lab and for allowing us to show you this amazing facility. See you on June 11 and 12 at our sister facility, Plum Brook Station in Sandusky, Ohio.

I hope the parking will be more available, less cumbersome. Temperatures will be hotter and some cars will not be able to withstand all the heat, as today I saw several cars on the side of the road.

Fortunately, it's just Sunita Williams, she is so nice, you only need to see her once.

All times are CT (US)
