One Giant Leap Inc. will be hosting astronauts this week in North Adams, Massachusetts and Windsor Lock, Connecticut.

See the New England Air Museum for Sunday, March 30 in Connecticut. Special guests will be Dan Burbank and patch king Tim Gagnon. We will also be showing some new patches like the Coast Guard Astronaut patch plus a new Connecticut Astronaut Patch. Please stop by our booth and say hi to Garry and Larry. We might even have a copy or two of the hottest Apollo on the market there.

On March 27 at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) in North Adams, Massachusetts, astronaut Dan Burbank and Cady Coleman will perform a few songs with some students and then give a talk about living and working in space. See here for details.

On March 29, astronaut Dan Burbank will be with the scouts on Cape Cod.

Hope to see our fellow collectSPACE members there.

We just finished our first event. The event at MCLA was fantastic. A combination of music and space. The school really appreciated it as well as a packed house. I have probably done more astronaut events then most people and I would have to say this was the best!

On to a few others this weekend and it will conclude with a day at the New England Air Museum. We have a special message downloaded from space, a few good astronaut talks, special patch displays and sales from the master himself (wait to you see the Connecticut Astronaut patch), some other great talks by people and some really cool planes! Come and have fun and enjoy the museum.

Last Friday, Lynn and I flew to CT for the New England Air Museum's Space Expo. Dan Burbank was the featured speaker and Bryan asked me to create a special patch for the occasion. The patch was unveiled on Sunday at the event. I also met Ken Karalis who has been a supporter of my work since 2008. Thank you Ken for driving up to Windsor Locks.

The day before, I had the wonderful opportunity to drive up to MA and visit with Lawrence L. McGlynn. Larry has the most incredible collection I've ever seen and time only permitted viewing about half of it. Larry paid me the ultimate complement by commissioning me to paint two patches. The STS-126 and my "Celebrating 50 Years of America in Space" commemorative. My work hangs in his office and den along side of the greats like McCall, Chris Calle, Hartmann, etc. Frankly I was too awestruck to take photos.

This trip was made possible by my good friend Bryan McKay and his One Giant Leap Foundation. OGL promotes STEM education by bringing astronauts to New England for appearances. The patches I design for Bryan are primarily offered as fund raisers. Please consider supporting this effort.

Tim, it sounds (and looks!) like you had a fantastic time.

The Beacon, the student newspaper of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, has published an article about another of One Giant Leap's recent events, the performance of "STEAM: A Space Odyssey."

Retrieving payloads with a robot arm while hurtling around the globe at 17,500 miles per hour demands many skills, being able to play "Big Yellow Taxi" is not one of them.

But on Thursday, Astronauts Catherine "Cady" Coleman and Daniel Burbank showed that science and artistic expression go hand in hand.

Bryan McKay of One Giant Leap Foundation, a non-profit organization working to promote science and math education to students as well as inform people about space exploration, made the event possible. He is also the parent of an MCLA student.

"This is where one guy makes a difference," Coleman said. "So for anyone who's thinking of doing something, and thinking it might not work, think again. Bryan made [this] happen, and he's a real person, with real dreams and everyone else can do that, too."

All times are CT (US)
