At work currently Paul but I'll be sure to get in touch with Ken later today. Nice one! |

So! Monday has come and gone: is the event still on or not? |

Last I heard from Ken, he has asked Walt for a little more time before he commits. A few more ticket sales would make all the difference. |

Perhaps one astronaut visit per year would be financially beneficial to some for any future events? Fortunately I have attended every event Ken has organised, but with Autographica also an anuual consideration finances can become stretched. |

Ken now has until January 30th to confirm with Walt that the event in March is a GO! More breathing space for anybody dragging their heels placing ticket orders. |

Last I heard it is still in the balance. Ken has had some more ticket orders but don't know at this stage if there have been enough. As soon as I hear anything I'll let everybody know. |

With regret Ken has asked me to announce the cancellation of the Walt Cunningham event in March. Not as you might think because of poor ticket sales; in the last week Ken has sold 30 more tickets and been promised a £1000 grant from the local authorities to put the show on. Rather, the cancellation is due to building problems beyond Ken's control. Carlton Community High School (the planned venue) was raised to the ground 3 years ago, a week after a visit from Fred Haise. The school is currently being rebuilt but to all intents and purposes, is a collection of small temporary buildings. The power supply to the venue was damaged over the weekend and since much of the building work is being carried out at weekends, the contractors have had to shoe horn in the repair work; the only slot they were able to find was the weekend of the Walt Cunningham visit. In the grand building scheme of things Ken's event is as you might imagine a pretty low priority. There are no suitable alternate rooms available at Carlton, and other local schools have been unable to help due to the short notice. The hotels are unable to accomodate alternate dates in or around March as they are booked up (both are very busy wedding hotel venues) and Walt I'd imagine has other plans already in the pipeline. Ken has today been trying to sort an alternate venue. If things change unexpectedly for the better I'll let everybody know but in the meantime might I suggest everybody who has ordered tickets contact Ken directly for a refund, the return of the uncashed cheques or switch payment to a future event. |

Unfortunately that's another two night's accommodation I didn't have to book then. |

Rick, I am really sorry to hear that. Especially as the reason wasn't the one we were expecting. I will let the dust settle and then advise Ken to hold onto my cheques for the next event.I will wait a few more days before I cancel the hotel room just in case plans change. With regards to letting Ken hold onto cheques we all need to be aware that our personal cheques are only valid for 6 months from the date they were written. |

Hmm... I find it hard to believe there isn't a suitable hall somewhere in the region. Sixty pounds non-returnable hotel accommodation down the pan. |

David, I agree. I am very surprised that there is not a single venue that can accommodate the short lecture. However, I will not question the decision as I am sure that everything has been tried. |

I wont be booking early again. This event has been touch and go for weeks. I can understand changes of circumstance beyond people's control but two night lost hotel cost is something that I cannot loose again. In future unless the event is a go from the start then no. |
