Good idea Nigel. For what it's worth, Spaceport on the Wirral has a poster promoting the event as does several schools in my area. |

I had tickets for the Jim Lovell event that had to be cancelled, very disappointing. That's why we need to commit now for this one to go ahead. It would make a great post-Christmas treat, ask the wife or hubby for a ticket as a Christmas pressie! |

It would be a shame to see this cancelled so even I have posted a link on my Facebook profile to help! |

I've created an 'event' on Facebook too... And (with Ken's agreement!) I've put up a page for people to link to, should they so wish. |

Ticket sales for the dinner are a tad slow. £60 gets you a superb 3 course meal, not to mention a speech from Walt, an auction, and the chance for a signed photo for those with deeper pockets. |

Have received our three tickets today from Ken. I'm really looking forward to seeing a Walt Cunningham presentation as when I met him in Northampton eleven years ago I was talking to him and he has a lot of interesting views of his time as a Nasa astronaut. You only need to read his autobiography to know that he can be very candid in his opinions. A must see character for all space enthusiasts. |

300 people have contacted Ken asking about tickets to see Walt. To date less than one third have actually sent payment. Before we know it March will be upon us... and the January 5th deposit deadline before that! |

Rick, I'm in! I'm in! I only recently discovered Ken's events but can only encourage any people 'considering' to take the plunge. You will not regret it. For Richard Gordon I drove from West Sussex, listened to his lecture and then drove home. Lots of driving: great return. |

This must seem a bit tedious to those of you who have never attended these sorts of events, but I can assure you it's well-worth buying a ticket!Ken's presentations are entirely different to Autographica (which I also adore!) The dinners in particular are more intimate, allow a fantastic level of interaction with the guest and are great value for money.... Treat yourself for Christmas! |

I couldn't agree more. At the last event when Sy Liebergot came over a few us were chatting with him at the end of the night for ages. If there had been more time I think we would have all ended up going to the pub! |

With all the talk of Jack Schmitt being a possible candidate for a trip to Pontefract in October 2012 let us not lose sight of the fact Walt Cunningham is number one on the runway right now.A good turn out for Walt will have a bearing on the success or otherwise of any future astronaut guest. |

Come on folks don't sit on your hands, get those cheque books out before Christmas arrives or the wife goes off to the January sales!Saw Ken at the Jeff Hoffman event in Leicester where he also told me that all attendees to this event will also get preference for any future event. |

There has been a bit of a lift in ticket sales the last week or so but last I heard 80+ tickets is disappointing. It ceratinly causes Ken to question whether he would get the support necessary to bring Jack Schmitt over next fall. A successful event with Walt will determine whether or not Jack Schmitt is invited to Pontefract. |

Updates from Ken regarding ticket sales for Walt continue to frustrate. £30 for a lecture AND an autograph (about half what his fee would be were he to attend Autographica and there are no indications that he has any intentions of doing so). Not mention the chance for a chat and a photo op too.Furthermore, the success of Walt's event will have a direct influence on whether or not Ken is able to secure Jack Schmitt. And all the indications are, as good as the boys at Autographica may be, Jack Schmitt would not attend one of their events; the only way we in the UK are likely to see Jack Schmitt on this side of the pond would be in Pontefract. Anybody sitting on the fence right now get on down and help Ken make these events happen! |

Ken tells me that there was interest expressed in Walt Cunningham tickets from around 200 people he has not heard from since. If any of those 200 people are reading this post can you please contact Ken asap and order some tickets? I suspect Ken has reached the point where he would have to put his own money in to the project for it to proceed... in the hope of recouping that cash from subsequent ticket sales. He has done this for previous astronaut guests but has told me is is no longer prepared to do so. Time is of the essence. |

If Ken has to cancel the event, it will demonstrate two things: - The recession is really hurting 'middle England' (i.e. normal working geezers like me!)
- There are not many genuine space enthusiasts in the UK
Come on: it's Walt Cunningham for heaven's sake! |

I am trying my best to drum up some last minute sales but it's really hard to convince people of the urgency. You explain that it may not go ahead unless they commit but it's still countered with 'I'll think about it'. Yes, think and then sign!! |

I may be wrong but I would think that if this event doesn't go ahead it will probably negate any further visits. After all, what is the point of Ken putting in all this hard work if he receives little support? Please send in your cheques now if you intend to see Walt Cunningham. |

Paul makes an excellent point. Walt's event may be in March but Ken has to send a sizable deposit in the coming days; thinking about it does not get Ken the deposit he needs.Might I also suggest to David and others, that should the Walt event go ahead as planned, they donate an item or two for Ken's after dinner auction? I plan on donating several auction lots on the night. The proceeds are ploughed back in to the next guest. |

A thought for next time: I appreciate that 'Do Not Use Paypal' is plastered all over Ken's flyer but that simple form of payment should be seriously considered. I wonder how many people read this thread or the flyer and thought that they would definitely go but then it slipped their mind and the cheque was left unwritten. Paypal allows for that instantaneous 'Oooh, that's interesting. I'm going! I'm paying! I've paid!'. There is percentage fee but that is dealt with by the sender accepting the small charge and thus not passing the fee on to Ken. Rick, you will know whether this has been tried before and the results. |

A simple message from me - If we dont support, then dont expect to meet and see these amazing people. Ken has done all of the hard work. All that we have to do is write and post a cheque and then enjoy. It is all here handed to us on a plate. |

Although not perhaps the main reason, I would agree that PayPal may be easier for many. I know Ken is not keen on this system, however it may be beneficial for future use. Perhaps you can persuade Mr W. Rick? |

Ken's preferred payment methods are for him to decide. I have put the case for Paypal to him but when all is said and done it is Ken's event. He can accommodate bank transfers for anybody who is interested. Just drop him a line. |
