Remembering Challenger
Saturday, January 28th
12:00 noon - 4:00 p.m.

Special appearance by former astronaut Col. Gordon Fullerton

On Saturday, January 28th, 2006, the Science Center will remember the events of the January 28, 1986, Challenger explosion through a series of scheduled events. There will be a special IMAX screening of THE DREAM IS ALIVE at 12:00 noon. Following the film, listen to and participate in a panel discussion led by Jim Busby, who holds an honorary degree in Space Science Information, and Larry Evans, President of the Orange County Space Society. The panel will address the events of January 28, 1986, pay homage to the loss of human life on that day, discuss the technical difficulties of manned space flight and include an outlook for the positive possibilities of future space missions. Additionally, staff of the Challenger Learning Center will provide free public tours of the realistic mock-up of Mission Control and Space Station. Badges honoring the fallen astronauts will be given away as souvenirs and a "Wall of Remembrance" for Challenger and Columbia will be on display at the Center.

All times are CT (US)
