I hope you'll all forgive this wildly off topic post but I'd like to announce the latest addition to the collectSPACE community!Adam Thomas left the mothership at 8.40 GMT (MET 0 0 0 0) and made a successful EVA through the Neutral Buoyancy Lab at the Thomas Space Centre, to emerge into the Terran atmosphere. All mission objectives were achieved. Preliminary biomedical data indicates a body mass of 6 pounds 10 ounces and a full complement of fingers, toes and nose. Mission control are both delighted and exhausted! Night everybody. Matt |

MattCongratulations. Enjoy those sleepless nights but don't worry. It gets worse as they get older. But, I would not have missed it for the world (or an in-person Neil Armstrong autograph). Great news. Best wishes Rob Wood |

Outstanding Matt. Many congratulations to you both. It is apparent that despite your best efforts Adam finally won out over Neil Buzz Thomas. Regards, Rick. |

Congratulations Matt. We welcomed twin girls last year. Both have already written to and received signed photos from various shuttle astronauts. It's a great time, enjoy it. It goes by way too fast.James [This message has been edited by James Brown (edited April 23, 2004).] |

Tom - Matt,Congrats to both of you. I had my little astro candidate born on March 8th. 10 lbs 10 oz. Funny, I thought SHE was going to be the first person on Mars! I can certainly share your joy. This is the best thing that ever happened to me. It is just sooooo much better than advertised. We went outside for her first Full Moon a few weeks ago... that was a blast! ------------------ Warm Regards Douglas Henry Enjoy yourself and have fun.... it is only a hobby! |

Congratulations Matt!By the way - here's a question for all you space nutters: has anyone here given their kids a name related to space in some way (e.g. that of an astronaut, a star etc)? |

Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts and wishes, both on and off this thread. Rachel and Adam (and I!) are all doing fine.If you'll all allow me one final indulgence I thought you might like to see the little man himself. He's seen here in his constant wear garment, suiting up with another EVA specialist. Cheers, Matt P.S. There's no way I'm going to make it to any of the Dave Scott book signings - if anyone could pick up a copy for me I'd appreciate it.
