I look towards a succesful Delta launch of NASA MER-B "Opportunity" on late Sunday night (EDT) for its mission to land and rove on Mars.On 4 July 1976 another Mars probe was actually sitting on Mars - Viking-1. Let's hope MER-A and MER-B can do the same in a few months time along with Mars Express's Beagle. I won't pop-the-cork on early Monday (GMT) in case its a bad 'omen'

Not to be picky, but Viking One was originally scheduled to land July 4, but they ended up landing July 20, 1976Pathfinder, however, landed on July 4, 1997. | |
