Here is a cover with a rather vague cache that mentions some kind of first flight. Hoping it was a rocket test but I am thinking it may be in regards to some new Air Mail delivery route set up between El Paso, Alamogordo, and Albuquerque, New Mexico?

Your hunch was correct, it is US Airmail first flight cover, for a contract airmail route. See reference excerpt from the American Airmail Catalog below.

Thanks to both for the explanation and supports.
In the past, I have seen this cover in Astrophilatelic exhibits misplaced as a rocket launch (just because the RSC shows a rocket) when it refers correctly to an airmail contract.
So, pay attention to all astrocollectors that this cover is not a ROCKET cover (even if the image shows a rocket) but an airmail cover, more appropiate to be placed in an Aerophilatelic exhibit.
