Over the years my quest for space covers signed and unsigned leads me to some interesting gems.

This Goddard cover has a well-applied hand cancel from Kennedy Space Center for the splashdown of Apollo 8. It is nicely signed by Mrs. Robert Goddard.

The cover is addressed to and signed by William Numeroff who is a well renowned cachet artist and designer.

But the significance of this special cover doesn't end with all of this, as the back is autographed with a profound inscription by a person little known to us space cover collectors who was directly involved in the early days of the U.S. space program.

He is Don Eppert who after a very distinguished WWII military career, was a witness to the first rocket launch at Cape Canaveral Bumper 8 and later was directly involved in the building of the Vehicle Assembly Building at KSC.

I thought all of you space cover collectors would enjoy seeing this cover.

Great cover, Tim. Time spent searching eBay for space material can often pay off, as it has with this special cover for Apollo 8. It certainly once belonged to William Numeroff, was addressed by him and has both the stamp and a cachet he designed. It was signed by Mrs. Goddard and also has the signature of Don Eppert, who had a distinguished military career and contributed to the construction of the Kennedy Space Center.

All times are CT (US)
