I found a landing cover for STS-3 (Columbia) postmarked at White Sands Missile Range at a stamp show and snagged it.

The cachet itself is pretty basic and I was curious if this was a design that was created when it was apparent the shuttle would land there or if it was pre-generated, as a contingency, with the date added later?

It's a rudimentary black line drawing of the shuttle, with a hint of desert landscape/vegetation in the background, that appears to be commercially printed. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Brian, please confirm if the cover you are referring is the bottom one.

In positive case, I can only inform you that this illustration is specific for this mission (I have not remember to see it in any other STS mission).

Please, if you are so kind, can you tell me if the postmark of your cover is the same than mine?. Thanks.

Antoni, thanks for your reply.

Yes, my cover is the same as the version at the bottom of your three images. The postmark is the same. Identical as far as I can tell.

Thanks again, I appreciate your help.
