Earlier this year, Roscosmos TV showed some training footage featuring Russian cosmonaut Anna Kikina wearing a futuristic-looking patch. Does anybody have some information on this design?

It is only a guess, but as there are eight stars on the patch and there were eight members of the 2012 cosmonaut group, might it be their class patch?

Yes! It is cosmonauts class 2012 patch.

The number of stars corresponds to the number of the selected cosmonauts. And I think we see a Space Sail on the picture.

It is based on the planet Earth — two ends of the sail are — one is on the Far East of Russia another one is somewhere in the middle of Eurasia. Maybe it could symbolise Baikonur and Vostochniy launch sites for today and future manned missions? Will try to check in Moscow.

And I feel the shape of the sail also could symbolise something...

The sail shape looks more like a shark's tooth.

Got a very interesting information from my friend in Moscow! The sail is composed of three curves. The big one represents the planet Earth, the small one is the Moon and the medium one - Mars. Not bad as idea!

It is strange the 2012 team didn't want to share...

Fine photo! Finally we have a detailed picture of the patch.

I am pretty sure the space sail of the class is one end on Baikonur and another one on Vostochniy launch sites! It is a basis of the Russian space program.

Shapes of Earth, Mars and Moon in the sail are very probable too. Now the logo is clear for us. Some other ideas, friends?

Is it just me, or does it look like what Earth's graphic representation would be if this planet was populated exclusively by rhinoceroses?
