Does anyone know who produced this set of space shuttle Transoceanic Abort Landing (TAL) patches and if this is the complete set?

Were there any patches for the other types of aborts? It would be interesting to see if they could be reproduced.

It looks like the "Banjul" patch was made by a separate entity based on the letter sizing.

Although not the same style, I've seen a Shuttle Support Team patch for Moron AB in Spain, as well as for RAF Fairford in Great Britain, both TAL sites.

You are correct. I think the on that page is a reproduction (not a bad one).

Other potential TAL sites that may or may not have a patch in this set:
  • Istres Air Base France
  • Diego Garcia
  • Cologne Bonn Airport
  • Rota, Spain
  • Kano, Nigeria

I think I got mine back in the early 90's from a place called Star Realm. They had a big catalog at the time with a lot of patches that you did not see at other places. The Banjul looks like it was made after.

While irrelevant to the patch discussion, I think some folks may be confusing shuttle emergency alternate airports with TAL sites.

Here is a NASA Facts brochure on the TAL sites.

All times are CT (US)
