Anyone seen Tom Marshburn's personal patch for the ISS Expedition 34/35? It puts Hadfield's to shame. Sorry Chris. |

As he mentioned in another thread, Tim Gagnon designed this patch for Tom Marshburn. |

Beautiful patch Tim! The mountains are unique. And a very different style from Hadfield's- still a handsome patch. |

Thanks for the compliments but Jorge Cartes, Tom and I each get gets a third of the credit. The Caduces represents Tom along with his siblings all but one is a doctor. The infinity symbol is a personal symbol between Tom and his wife. The stars represent Tom's family and crew mates. The large star in the center represents his daughter - it also represents the station passing overhead. The crescent Earth and sunrise represents his spaceflight and the Planet Jupiter represents 2001 A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke. Tom read the book when he was younger and it inspired his passion for space exploration. The mountains represent his love of hiking, camping and mountain climbing. The shape is a guitar pick but we had to make it wider to fit everything. Tom also plays guitar. It was a pleasure to work with him on this. It was almost in the shape of the monolith. |

I must have one of these! I've said it before, but Tom is a native of my town here in NC. When he comes back to Statesville again, and he told me he wants to, I want him to see I have his patch as a surprise. Wow, what a beautiful design. Good job! |

Tim, when you generate objects of such beauty and desirability you are inevitably going to create a public demand. How about having a discussion with Tom? You must have some weight on his thinking about his matter. |

Thanks for the generous compliment. Of course any discussion will have to wait until this summer. Tom's out of the country right now. |

WOW!! That is an amazing patch!!! Tim, you, Jorge and Tom really should be very proud of this one! It looks like we could walk right into the patch and climb the mountains! Congratulations on a Truly AMAZING and beautiful patch!! I agree. This would be an fantastic addition to my patch collection!! However I DO respect Tom Marshburn if he wants it to be only for him. |

I was just kidding about the tweet. Although, I did tweet him about one of the latest beautiful photos he took of the Blue Ridge Moutains here in NC. I'm sure he has done plenty of hiking here too. |

I love the symbolism and never would have made the 2001 connection. As others have mentioned the "ground" based focus (mountains) makes this patch rather unique and majestic.Plus this patch in a way represents the vast majority of us whose only way to view/experience the heavens it to look up at it from the ground. |

Do anyone have any photo with this patch on Tom's onboard suit? The patch is too much big for his arm...I would stress that the quality of the landscape is similar to the landscape on the Romanian seal-patch for the flight of Dimitru Prunariu in 1982. |

There won't be any photos of Tom wearing the patch. He's flown only a small number for family members. As for the landscape. The similarities of a mountain and trees in the foreground are all there is. Tom's patch landscape is based on the work of an artist he admires.

I hope Tom did some photos to share with us. Otherwise we will not be sure the patch was produced before the flight and was aboard.

Photos aren't necessary to document when the patch was produced and if it was onboard. We have the word of the artist and if need be, Marshburn's own account post-flight. |

Russian you misunderstand this thread. Tom has no current plans to publicize his personal patch. Accordingly, there will not be photos. Jorge and I designed this for him personally and there was a small number made for his family and friends. There are no plans to ever produce these for sale, so providing provenance insn't necessary. I'm confident there will be pirated copies made, but since I have not provided the actual size or list of thread colors, the pirates will have to guess. |

If the quality of the Malaysians is any indication, they pretty much go on guess work anyway. I'd never buy their junk. |
