Has anyone ever seen an Apollo 8 patch (rectangular) with horses on it?I recently gave one away and the recipient was curious to its origin. |

Don't know who produced the patch (obviously it was done by an enthusiast and not official), but there is some info here on the origin of the design.Aloha from Honolulu to Maui. |

The October 2010 edition of BIS monthly Spaceflight magazine had an article on the original painting by Lumen Winter which inspired the patch makers. This painting was purchased by Tom Hanks and presented to Jim Lovell and hangs now inside the entrance to Lovells of Lake Forest, a space-themed restaurant in Chicago IL. |

Even though this patch is primarily thought of as a novelty, NASA considered it "official" enough to issue an official press photo - S68-53480. |

I haven't had any success in finding S68-53480 with a search engine. Could you possibly post one, please?UPDATE: I have located S68-53480 on the Apollo 8 disc from Retro Space Images.
