Of course it's OK for Jacques to partner again on this. It's a tremendous help. The $2.00 shipping is for each order, Unless you're ordering something like 20-25 patches. Thanks, Tim IP: Logged |

Well I have now seen photographs of individuals wearing 3 name and 4 name versions of the Exp 17 patch and both versions displayed on interior of the ISS. But has anyone seen the no name patch being worn by any spacefarers? After all it is a NASA approved design, but to what avail if nobody uses it!Can I ask a question about the following NASA statement: 'The NASA insignia design for space station flights is reserved for use by the astronauts and for other official use as the NASA Administrator may authorize.' Would that mean that, for example, a space enthusiast may not sew even the no name version on any apparel of leisure clothing or is that an authorised activity? Presumably the NASA Administrator does approve of the insignia being worn as lapel pins, like the one being offered on eBay? IP: Logged |

I am fairly certain I have seen it on NASA TV, or at least embroidered versions of it on ISS crew apparel, though have not captured any screenshots to share. There are also patches stowed in the ISS OFK, which could very well be the no name version. quote: Would that mean that, for example, a space enthusiast may not sew even the no name version on any apparel of leisure clothing or is that an authorised activity?
As the patches and pins exist and are made by contractors to NASA, they are "authorized activities." The clause exists to protect the insignia from being used in commercial promotions, such as the golf shot from the ISS, without permission.IP: Logged |

Hi, the lapel pin featured in the ebay auction is manufactured or supplied through AB Emblem, so no problem there.Nick Spaceman www.spaceboosters.co.uk IP: Logged |

I'll be ordering all of these patches. But under protest. Why is this becoming such a chore? One glimmer of hope here is that Tim has allowed us on the forum to buy complete and accurate versions of the patches. If this continues, maybe AB Emblem will just produce these versions without recourse to special orders. There's obviously a market. John IP: Logged |

I do not see ordering these one-of-a-kind patches as a chore. I think we are getting one heck of a bargain and with relative ease. For U.S. orders, the Expedition 17 (no name) patch from AB Emblems costs $5.99 plus $7.50 for shipping. Tim is graciously charging only $5.00 per patch with $2.00 for shipping for patches we cannot get elsewhere. I have ordered the other two patches with gratitude. I do not know what Jacques is charging for patches sent to the Republic of Ireland, but I am sure it is comparable. IP: Logged |

I ship for what it costs me to send them in Europe, 72 eurocent Priority mail, that is a little more than $1 For 1 to 5 patches.I sell the patches for the same price as Tim $5 so with shipping that would be $6.00 total for one patch. I do not have to make a provit out of it, its just a service... ------------------ Jacques :) www.spacepatches.nl IP: Logged |

Hi aerospce educator,I know it's easy for us. But it's still a chore for Tim and Jacques to provide this great service to all of us. I was just saying that AB Emblem etc. should be organising this a bit better so that guys like Tim and Jacques don't have to be so generous with their time. John IP: Logged |

I've just received my 2 patches from Jaques! Wow! They're amazing! I compared them to my version with no names and the blue background is actually lighter on the CS ones, where as the AB version with no names has a darker, duller blue. Thanks so much guys! Can't wait for the other versions to be made!! IP: Logged |

The Exp 17 2nd crew (w/Chamitoff) and the 4 name version will be ordered today from AB Emblem. Thanks to Jacques for doing the "heavy lifting" on this batch. As before I expect it to take 4 weeks so look for my update around the middle of August. Tim IP: Logged |

Hello!I'm new in the town. My name is Oscar Rodriguez, and I live in Cadiz, Spain. I see there is another Spaniard around here (Hola KAPTEC!). I'm the manager of the Project for the Creation of the first Spanish Museum of Space Flight (Project MEE) an initiative focused on the creation of a science, educational center where people of all ages have a direct access to everything related to space science and technology here in Spain (you can find more information in this website.) I started collecting space patches for the future museum's collections a couple of years ago. Today I received the Exp-17 "Chamitoff" and four-name version patches from Jacques today. Thank you very much Tim and Jacques for providing us with these and other patches. Best regards from Spain! Oscar.- IP: Logged |

It's nice to see that Bull Eckert found a new job once "The Cape" was canceled. Welcome to cS Oscar. One piece you should definitely include in your museum is the STS-126 patch. One of the artists who created it is our own KAPTEC your fellow countryman. Good luck with your museum! Tim IP: Logged |

Thanks for your kind words, Tim.I remember watching The Cape at late-night (the series aired at around 2:00 a.m. here in Spain four or five years ago). Of course, the STS-126 patch will have a special place in the collections. It's a very nice patch and I'm glad a fellow Spaniard is one of its creators. Best regards from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean! Oscar.- IP: Logged |

Hello Oscar. It's very nice find another spanish involved in this forum, and best of all read about your project. Where are you going to create it, in Cadiz? (It would be another interesting thing to do in "La Tacita de Plata" -guys that's the nick-name of this beautiful Andalucian city, and means "The Little Silver Cup"-) Count with me for anything in wich I could help you. (Tim, once again thankyou so much for your words) Jorge. IP: Logged |

Hi Jorge,Thanks for your message. Glad to meet you! The Museum has no a concrete location yet. Unfortunately, supports from local, regional and national Government organizations are non-existent. The lack of support also extends to the educational activities I've been developing since 1994. In other words, I should pay out of my pocket if I want them to be developed. You can find more information about some of these activities here: English version | Spanish version Any help to this project is most welcome! Best regards from Cadiz! Oscar.- IP: Logged |
