Looking at the mainstream patch websites, AB, Countdown, Galactic etc., I've noticed that the selection of International Patches leaves a lot to be desired.

In all cases they're still selling the old "PK" version of the Russian space agency patch. Where's the new POCKOCMOC version?

Others are selling the NASDA patch. Where's the new JAXA patch?!?

I'm not sure if that "China Space Council" patch has any providence, I've certainly never seen it on a Shenzhou Taikonaut!

And the most infuriating one is the mislabelling of the ESA Spacewalker patch as an ESA Space Agency patch.

They all throw in the same-ol-same-ol Mir patches (Thagard, Dunbar et al).

Are these patch designs out of copyright and therefore cheap to make or are these companies just stuck in a rut/lazy?

I know from reading this forum that there's huge market for ESA and Russian patches.

All the specific patches you mention are produced by AB Emblem, hence their availability.

SpacePatches.info offers some of the Soyuz crew patches, as does USSR-AirSpace.com.

There were replica Shenzhou patches available but our attempts (at least) to stock them have been unsuccessful given the high cost wanted to export them.

ESA didn't have Astrolab patches available for their own team members, according to those who were at KSC and JSC for the STS-121 launch.

All times are CT (US)
