I acquired this STS-51E patch the other day and just wanted to check with the experts to see what they think. From what I've read my impression is that this is an original AB (with dark blue edging) that was then trimmed and had the Baudry - Garn tab sewn on by hand. Can anyone confirm this?   |

I'm not sure about Lions, someone else would have to weigh in on that; but it looks like AB to me at first glance.Yea, the one on the right is a replica with the blue border that goes all the way around. |

Lion Brothers from what I know didn't make a 51E, Ben is right, the one on the left is AB, and the one on th right is a repro------------------

The overlock border on the right patch is interesting. I own exactly such a patch and discovered this is the way this path maker covered up the amputation of the Baudry tab. Note that the AB also has a light blue twill background, which indicates it is not the original 51E 'Baudry Only' production run. The blue background was needed when the seperate tab was added, otherwise there would be a small dark blue 'gap' between the border of te original patch and the tab, something which can be seen in the earlier versions with the dark blue background. |
