Hey everybody,

I am wanting to put together a collection of rare and unusual space patches. The types I am especially looking for are backup patches. I saw on that a couple of the Gemini crews (7 and 12) had backup patches. Are these available anywhere? I know the Apollo 14 Beep Beep patch is pretty easy to find. Is the same true for these?

I should probably clarify that I have somewhat limited resources with which to pursue this (broke, in other words), but are there any stores like Rocket Town or the Space Store that anyone else knows of? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Countdown Creations, the Space Store, and Lunar legacies have a few patches that are different. You may also want to check with Cape Kennedy Mint. Their number is 321-799-9009.

Must add a name that I forgot...Randy Hunt also has many many unusual and rare patches..His ebay ID is 4gator, ebay store is patches and pins, etc. I missed that one and Randy reminded me...Sorry Randy!!!

The Gemini 7 and 12 backup crew patches are non-authentic since none were ever manufactured for the crews. These patches existed on paper only. I know because I had a chance to ask Buzz Aldrin about the "Halloween" patch in person and through Collectspace about five years ago got to ask Gordon Cooper the same question. Of course that confirms the backup GT-12 patch was never made. As for the GT-7 backup patch, I simply read somewhere that none were actually produced. The Gemini 11 backups (Armstrong, Anders) did have an actual patch made and I have seen photos of the crew wearing it. These are probably about as rare as anything in existance can be. The Apollo 14 backup crew patch was reproduced. They show up on ebay as well as The real ones are uncommon and expensive.
