I printed an Atlas booster in 1:72 to use with Dragon's 1:72 Mercury spacecraft model. Printed on MakerBot Replicator 2, silver PLA, 0.1 mm resolution.

I'm not too familiar with 3D printing, so I don't know the cost of time and materials. If I wanted to buy something like your Atlas, what would be a reasonable price to expect?

That's an interesting way to model an Atlas. However, the Mercury Atlas was not a 2-stage rocket. The two outboard booster engines separated in flight, but the rest of the Atlas was a single stage. It looks like the model has something resembling a Centaur upper stage, but with the conical upper tank of the Atlas A through F versions.

D'oh! It seems I was misled. So I will trash those "2nd stage" engines, but will still print in two pieces because of printer size limitations. Pretend you didn't see it.

Time to print maybe 12 to 15 hours for all parts, maybe a little more. I usually run overnight and wake up to finished part. Material cost is minimal.

The real work is in designing or cleaning up the digital files for printing. The files could be uploaded to Shapeways or another service for higher quality prints. I sent you an email.
