Recently I have been thinking about building a diorama representing the recovery of the first launched Orion spacecraft by the USS Anchorage.

My thinking was to use the Revell 1/350 USS New York kit to represent the Anchorage. My first observations are that the two ships are almost identical using online resources, but wondered if there would be anyone knowledgeable who could confirm that this is indeed the case. Many thanks.

They are both San Antonio class amphibious transport dock ships built in the same ship yard. There may be minor differences in equipment but close enough for most people.
  • New York (LPD-21)
  • Anchorage (LPD-23)

All times are CT (US)
