So I was wondering if there is any differences in the Dragon Apollo command and service modules (CSM's) that they produce?

They have, or are coming out, with Apollo 7-18. The only notable difference I can see is Apollo 7 has a couple different white markings and the Apollo 15 has the long antennas on the sides and another antenna on the bottom. Is there anything else that I am missing on the other missions?

From the pictures I have seen, besides the differences I mentioned, they all appear identical. If anyone could clarify and let me know, I would appreciate it.

I was planning on buying all of them, but if they are pretty much all the same, then I do not see the point.

I'll start you off. The so far released 1/72 Dragon CSMs are all constructed the same way except one. Apollo 7 to 11 have plastic CMs, diecast SM (with attachable plastic RCS quads, and a plastic SPS nozzle extension. The exception is the CSM released with the 1/72 Saturn V stack, here the SM is also plastic.

Apollo 7 comes with the large white panels that were unique to that vehicle. Apollo 8 through 11 are pretty much identical. Apollo 7 and 8 are supplied with docking rings that to my knowledge were not fitted. Apollo 8 to 11 have misaligned national markings.

Apollo 9 is supplied with an opaque SLA, no LM and a plinth. Apollo 10 has a semi-transparent SLA, its stowed LM, no HGA, and a plinth. The Apollo 11 lunar approach set has a modified CM and LM, allowing a docked display. The ASTP CSM is basically the lunar approach version and therefore has incorrect markings for that mission.

I expect that the upcoming Apollo 12 will be identical to 11.

The upcoming Apollo 15 is shown to have no SIM bay and the wrong experiments.

Finally there is the 1/48 version - a straight scale up with no extra detail or features. The SM is now produced in two parts. The CM seems rather loosely attached. Windows are pained black instead of grey on the smaller models. Basically it really draws your attention to defects that are less obvious in the smaller scale.

On all versions all windows are opaque.

I now have Apollo 7 and 9 also the 1/72 Saturn V. Can the command module be separated from these models or is it glued on?

Apollo 9 dues not come with the S Band antenna.

Nor does the CSM in the Saturn V. Can Dragon supply spare parts? Would pay for these to add to the models. Also, spare RCS thrusters?

All times are CT (US)
