I have a couple and absolutely love the Atomic City 1/12 Mercury capsule, and was wondering if something of a similar scale or in the case of Apollo, something bigger than 1/32 is available either as a kit or preassembled (I've got the Code 3 versions)?

Here is my 1/4 scale Mercury Capsule. It's paper and a LOT of work but it is pretty cool.

It's all paper except the shingles, aft bulkhead, and heat shield. These are vacuum formed plastic. It's a work in progress but will take someone a few hundred hours to get to a nice exterior model. The interior is coming a little slower. The site also has the most complete reference of instrument panels you will ever see.

The site needs updated but if you're a Mercury buff, check it out.

I am working on producing a 1/12 Apollo CSM kit, I have built a few from scratch for exhibits, museums and will hopefully have this in kit form by the holidays, here's a couple pics.

If you check out my Yahoo group you'll see I've made a few full scale models of the X-43C, 1/8 scale X-33 (10' w/s) and I'm selling a 1/3 Mercury Capsule that comes with an interior. My 1/4 scale X-43A/Pegasus Stack is pretty big, I think it's about 12' long.

Big models are actually easier to build than really small models and you can charge a lot more for the big ones.

So which is the largest commercial Apollo CSM scale model nowadays? Anything decent in diecast for the collectors with two left hands?

Certainly, we would expect a diecast version or something special with the upcoming 50th anniversaries of Apollo missions?

All times are CT (US)
