Hi, I recently purchased a 1/32 Monogram Apollo Spacecraft. I was looking for pictures online of the interiors of the spacecraft in order to make the model more accurate than what the directions say. Can anyone help me please?? Thank you in advance. -Rodrigo |

Take a look at these websites for more detailed interior components: http://www.realspacemodels.com/html/catalog2.htm and http://mek.kosmo.cz/newware/ Scroll down to NW051 "1/32 Apollo Astronauts" and NWD002 "1/32 Apollo CSM decals" (though this is currently listed as temporarily out of production). |

About the best way I have found to get a real appreciation for how the Apollo spacecraft interiors looked was to try and see one on display (Cosmosphere in your case, even if Odyssey is lit rather darkly compared to the A10 backup CSM they had many years ago). Most still pictures tend to be focused on an astronaut rather then the interior itself. Aside from that, even though Apollo 13 and From The Earth to the Moon used sets, they were very faithfully done to the original Apollo craft and as such could work great for references as well. Spacecraft Films Apollo 7, Apollo 8 and Apollo 11 DVDs should have the inflight TV and films shot of the CSM interiors as well to get an idea of the layout and colors.I also recommend acquiring a copy of Space In Miniature book #6 the Apollo CSM book, from the following website: http://www.spaceinminiature.com/index.html It doesn't have any pictures of the interior layout, but there are some great line drawings showing how things fit together in the Apollo craft, as well as the switch layouts for the control panels. There is also extensive coverage of the exterior differences found on the Apollo spacecraft as well. With this, the New Ware sets, and the Realspace stuff (and Rick Sternbach's decals) you can turn an already pretty good Apollo CSM kit into a really cracking good model! The SIM book also has a nice construction guide, talking about easy improvements that can be made to the kit during construction as well. Edited by Jay Chladek on October 30, 2007 at 12:59 AM. | |
