Within five hours of astronaut John Glenn's splashdown and recovery, he showed this wristwatch to press photographers on board recovery destroyer USS Noa mentioning "On Time All the Way."

During Friendship 7, astronaut John Glenn wore a large Heuer 2915a stopwatch as backup time piece for the mission, so it looks like this wristwatch was part of the U.S. Navy post-flight recovery kit.

Glenn was also wearing the watch during his post-flight medical at Gran Turk island. Anyone has an idea which type and make?

A post flight recovery kit was on each one of the ships. It contained among other things; A flight suit, sneakers and wristwatch.

I have been a Mercury buff for long time. I have never read anything more about the watch.

It would make for a good ad. Make an orbital flight, get a free Timex.

All times are CT (US)
