Some items I see in the Smithsonian collection have a stamp that reads ANM or NAM (depending on which way you read it left to right or top left and then right) and a number like 758.
Does anyone know what these round stamps on some of these objects are? Are they museum inventory stamps? See example (top right very faint).

These are quality control stamps from the Space Division of North American Aviation, prime contractor for the Apollo Command Service Module. I read the stamp as "NAM" for North AMerican. But I do not know for sure if that is right.

Thank you appreciate the quick turnaround. This makes sense, although I would have expected North American Aviation to have inspected major structural parts but I assume they checked everything for quality control including small clamps, tubes, netting etc.
