I was able to pick up three large Apollo 14 lunar orbital science flight chart charts and was wondering how they were used.
I read that they were called Photo Task Charts which makes sense, they have a lot of information on camera settings and target areas to photograph. The maps are very detailed with the moons landmark names and the spacecraft's planned orbital flight path over the terrain.
I'm guessing these charts were used during the first orbits around the moon. I was surprised to see just how many cameras were carried and used on the CSM/LEM during the Apollo missions!
Question is, how/when were they used and how useful were the photographs taken?

There were targets for the photography, from geology targets to targets for the next landings. And they had the maps indicating where the targets were, what the lighting conditions would be etc.
