I am loaning my collection of Skylab flown items to the National Space Centre in Leicester, England who are doing a display on Skylab.

They are looking for further information on the items and their function during Skylab to assist them with putting together the display.

Any information on the use of the following items during Skylab would be gratefully appreciated and if anyone can point me in the direction of photos which may show these items on Skylab that would be perfect. All were flown on Skylab 3 and came from Jack Lousma:

  • Duro Marker Pen
  • Mechanical Pencil (ex Jack Lousma)
  • Bar of soap in wrapper
  • 2 Bungee Cords
  • Cutlery set and pouch

Very nice assortment, Jack is an awesome person and he seems to have kept about everything from his missions. I am sure the museum will make a fine display from your collection.

Thank you for all the comments and emails. A kind cS'er pointed me towards this photo which shows Jack Lousma using the fork and knife from my set on Skylab 3.

If anyone has any further info regarding any of these items then all advice/information gratefully received.

If not already referenced, Chris Spain's Space Flown Collectibles guide includes a good entry about writing instruments, including the history of the Duro Marker Pen and mechanical pencil.
