I will soon be in possession of a space shuttle main engine (SSME) gimbal nut and bolt. As such, I was wondering if someone had a copy of the installation drawing or a clear closeout photo they could share? I'd like to include it as part of the display I put together for it. Contact by email is fine.

I couldn't find much via the web. It would certainly help to explain to others why I have a nut and bolt prominently on display! Thanks in advance.

I have a sheet titled "Pocket Data - Space Shuttle Main Engine." There are multiple drawings of the SSME as well as call outs for some of the components including the "gimbal bearing." However the drawings are pretty small. If you're interested let me know and I'll scan it for you.

Are you talking about the multipage blue cover-pocket guide published by Rocketdyne? If so, I have a copy myself and was the first documentation I went to. I had no joy of finding anything focused on the bolt installation. Did see a call out or two pointing out the gimbal bearing itself, though.

Mine was published in May '87, so perhaps you have a more recent edition with something more telling? Appreciate the response.

I am not sure if this helps but pages 10 and 11 of this document details the gimbal bearing assembly that may show what you are looking for.

There are also details of the gimbal bearing here.

My pocket guide isn't blue but seems to fit your description.

I have a gimbal bolt from STS-95 and have also been looking for more detailed information regarding it's installation and use.

Thank you Oly for providing the link to the SSME pdf.
