Can anyone tell me of known Apollo 7 flown artifacts that are/have been in private hands or offered for sale? Ever since learning the parachutes were not recovered, I've been looking for something from Apollo 7 and have not had any luck.

Walt Cunningham has flown US flags, knit crew patches and crew beta patches for sale on his official website; and the blog apolloartifacts.com has a flown TV cue card saying "Paul Haney: Are you a turtle?"And Cunningham's Teflon bag used to store his PPK was sold at auction by Swann Galleries eleven years ago. Other items from the estate of Wally Schirra come up for auction from time to time as well. |

Interesting! The last time I saw the Paul Haney cue card was in the National Air and Space Museum. |

I could be incorrect, but I seem to recall that the description on the Smithsonian displayed cards explains that they are replicas, not the original flown ones. |

The original Haney card is described as having hung initially in the National Air and Space Museum and then subsequently found its way into private hands (not the only such example of an artifact being transferred from that institution into individual collections — have a flown CM main parachute assembly which encountered a similar disposition). |

Items from the collections of all three crew members have come to market over the years. As stated above, Walt Cunningham sells souvenir flown items on his website and has sold mission-used items over the last number of years, starting in around 1995, I'd guess. The same for Schirra as he too consigned souvenir and mission-used items for auction (from all of his flights) starting around that time with the Odyssey Group. I've seen a few pieces offered from Donn Eisele's family, both souvenir and mission-used. So... Keep your eyes peeled because there are a number of very cool items out there. Not many flights where all three members or their family have publicly parted with artifacts. |

Here is Walt Cunnigham's webpage with flown items for sale. I saw one of his flown flags at a recent auction but don't remember the price. |

On eBay there is currently a flown Robbins medallion from Walter Cunningham's collection. It's not mine, I am just aware of the listing. |
