I bought an item on eBay that was listed as a Space Shuttle Audio Terminal Unit (ATU) and it has a black label with these numbers:
  • NAS 9-14000 - matches the Rockwell orbiter contract
  • MC409-0005 - matches the Audio Distribution System
  • MC409-0005 0012 - matches the ATUs
And it has the serial number is "0003". Coincidentally, Challenger had an ATU with the serial number "0002" (Roger's report).

Do you guys think I have something real here? Ideally, I'd like to find a drawing or photo that validates, or to find out if it was flown. I read advice to others that they should contact NASA. But who at NASA? Who there would listen and take the time to respond with helpful info? I poured over what I found on the internet. Is there any other helpful documents? Thank you!

All times are CT (US)
